About Cat Rescue, Adoption & Foster Team
CRAFT cats and kittens have been rescued from a variety of circumstances. They've been home fostered and the foster volunteers are familiar with their personalities, so may be able to provide insight on how well a cat might relate to various household situations and other pets. The goal is to have a good match of the adopter and the cat. CRAFT has a no-questions-asked return policy for adoptions. One of CRAFT's primary goals is to keep these cats from being surrendered to shelters, which are always too full. CRAFT is a no-kill organization. During 2006 and 2007, CRAFT placed nearly 1,000 cats and kittens in new homes. CRAFT members work closely with local shelters, the Bend Spay & Neuter Project, SNIP House and various veterinarians to help cats and kittens that have few options.
All cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and have an ID microchip (unless feral). A carry box, and complimentary veterinary exam donated by Dr. Byron Maas are included. Health information for each cat or kitten for the time he or she has been fostered is also available.
CRAFT also rescues and fosters feral and semi-social cats that, after spay/neuter and vaccinations, are placed on farms and ranches around the region. There is no adoption fee for these cats, who provide excellent natural rodent control, but adopters must agree to a site visit by a volunteer (we deliver the cats) to make sure that the cats will be provided with adequate food, water and shelter.
All proceeds and donations (tax deductible) go towards spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, dental care, and emergency or other special veterinarian services. CRAFT is a small, all-volunteer group that for three years has been rescuing, fostering and finding homes for abandoned or unwanted cats and kittens, with the help of concerned citizens and generous veterinarians and various businesses.
Donations of dry and canned cat food, kitten formula, kitty litter, pet carriers & cages, gently used towels & sheets, laundry detergent, paper towels, cages, and various cat supplies are greatly appreciated! Gift certificates for stores where pet supplies are sold are most welcome.
Volunteers are always needed to help foster, trap, transport, host adoption events and work with the public, especially in the more rural areas of Central Oregon.
